We are delighted you are considering joining the Leweston community. A step by step guide to our admissions procedure is outlined below. However, if you have any questions, please contact our admissions team on 01963 211010 or admissions@leweston.dorset.sch.uk and we'll be happy to help.

We accept applications year-round for entrance when space permits, and students can enter the school at different levels. We look forward to working with you through the admissions process.

Step 1. Request information

Simply click here to fill in our enquiry form, and we'll send you our prospectus and any other information that applies to your family.  Alternatively please contact our Admissions Team on 01963 211010 or admissions@leweston.dorset.sch.uk and we'll be happy to help.

Step 2. Arrange a Visit or Attend an Open Morning

Please join us for an Open Morning with a student-led tour of the school, an opportunity to hear from the Head, meet our teachers and see our facilities. Open days are an excellent way of getting a feel for Leweston and for seeing the school ‘in action’. We have several Open Mornings each term - you can register for our next event by filling in the online registration form in the Open Morning section of the website.

We also would be happy to arrange an individual visit if you can't make an Open Morning or would prefer a more ‘one to one’ introduction to Leweston. Please contact our admissions team if you would like to arrange a visit.

Step 3. Register

If you wish to secure a place for your child it is advisable to register them with the school. A registration form can be requested from the admissions team or downloaded below.  The registration fee for the Senior School and Sixth Form is £100. The registration fee for the Junior Department and Nursery is £75.

Entry Requirements

Your child can start at Leweston anytime from Nursery right up to Sixth Form. As the process and entry requirements vary from year to year, please refer to the detailed information below.

Nursery (ages 3 months to 4 years)

Leweston's Nursery is open from 8am to 6pm and for 50 weeks of the year (we close for a week at both Easter and Christmas). We also offer a breakfast club which runs from 7.30 to 8am. The Nursery takes babies as young as 3 months and they will stay in the Nursery until the move through to Reception at age 4. Following your visit we strongly recommend that your child has a 'settling in session' in the Nursery, this will give you the chance to talk through your child’s routine, likes and dislikes with our Nursery staff. We also recommend you register your child as early as possible as sessions get very full.

Junior Department (co-educational from Reception - Year 6)

Whilst pupils normally start in the Autumn Term, we do have vacancies available at other times of the year. Following your visit we will invite your child in for a ‘taster day’ during which they will sit an informal assessment administrated by their Form Teacher who will meet you at the start and end of the day along with your child’s ‘guardian angel' (another pupil in their class who will look after them for the day). A place is offered following their taster day and assessment.  If your child has a favourite subject or activity please let the admissions department know and we will do our best to plan their taster day accordingly.

Senior School and Sixth Form (Years 7 - 13)

Leweston Senior School accepts girls from ages 11 to 18. Entry is normally at age 11 into Year 7, at age 13 into Year 9 and age 16 into Year 12, although girls are accepted into any year group if appropriate. A taster day will be arranged at your convenience during which your daughter will sit our school entrance assessment - a series of academic, numerical and perceptual reasoning tests that takes approximately an hour. For Prep School candidates, we mark Common Entrance 13+ papers; however it is not a requirement for entry and all candidates sit our own assessment tests. We do not provide past papers.

In addition to the above, entry into the Sixth Form at 16+ is dependent on six good passes at GCSE and is at the absolute discretion of the Head. Overseas students can arrange to be tested at their current school.  We will also require a satisfactory reference from the Head of your daughter’s current school.
