Leweston Junior Department puts on a spectacular summer term production every year. Details and photos of our most recent shows can be seen below...
Our 2016 production saw a cast from Years 3 to 6 transported through the air to the magical world of Neverland where they encountered fairies, pirates, lost boys as well as a whole menagerie of animals. The younger members of the Darling family had not only to contend with a rather grumpy Tinkerbell as their guide but escape the clutches of the evil Captain Hook and his merry band.
As usual, the cast were well supported by our gallant backstage crew of set designers, costume makers and makeup artists, sound and lighting technical team, choreographer and musical director. We would like to thank Simon Eadon of Abbas Records for creating a professional recording of the show which will undoubtedly be enjoyed by members of the cast, their family and friends for many years to come.
A cast of girls from years 5 – 8 put on a stunning performance of Lewis Caroll’s Alice in Wonderland at the end of the Summer Term 2015. Playing to a full house over three nights, the supremely talented cast dazzled all in attendance with their professional and polished performances. It was a joyous riot of song and dance, with Caroll’s wonderfully wacky world brought to bright and vibrant life in the School Theatre.
The production could not have taken place without the tireless work of the crew. Composed of a team of pupils and staff from across the school, the crew oversaw everything from the first class costume and set design, to the direction, lighting, sound, make-up and much more.
We were delighted to welcome pupils and staff from five local primaries and prep schools to the Friday performance and were honoured to receive wonderful feedback from the teachers and pupils alike.
It was a truly fantastic show; congratulations to all involved!
A particular highlight of the 2015 Junior Department Spring Concert was the performance of The Selfish Giant by the Reception to Year 4 Performing Arts Group. Led by Nancy M (Year 4) as The Giant and Loki M (Year 3) as The Boy, the play was a joy to behold, with superb performances by the entire cast.
Congratulations to all the performers and thank you to all the parents, family members and friends that came to watch.
In June 2014, the Junior Department performed their summer production of The Little Mermaid to great acclaim. Children from Years 3 to 6 took to the stage to bring Hans Christian Andersen’s magical fairy tale to life. The colourful spectacle, which boasted songs by Alan Menken, delighted audiences over three days with acting, music, singing, dancing, costumes and set design of the highest standards.
We were delighted to welcome five primary schools from the local area to the premiere performance and were honoured to receive wonderful feedback from the teachers and pupils. Leweston would like to thank Mrs Robotham and Ms Pankhurst from the Drama and Performing Arts Department for their superb direction and all the other friends, parents and members of staff for their hard work in bringing the production to the stage.
Congratulations to the cast; it was a spectacular show!
