We aim to make our international pupils feel catered for and welcome from day one. At the beginning of each academic year we hold a special International Day for all our new overseas pupils and this is followed up throughout the year with special events which aim to embrace and celebrate the cultural diversity our students. Each new girl is appointed a ‘Guardian’ upon her arrival. This will be a current pupil of the school who will be able to provide particular support as they settle in and begin to find their way around. We find this an invaluable support for the girls, and an important factor in the forging of new friendships.
Team building and other orientation activities are carefully planned to ensure all new girls find their way around and get to know a wide range of their peers. Community life can be enormously rewarding and our girls and the boarding staff are all very keen to ensure that new members of our community enjoy their time with us. The Housemistress for each house and her assistants are always available, and are experienced in helping international students to establish themselves and deal with the inevitable anxieties and stresses of coming to live in a new place so far from home.
At Leweston every student is treated individually and I was provided with the amazing opportunity to study in small groups with a high level of specialist teaching. I received a bespoke education that I would not have received in any other school and as a result achieved my dream of being awarded a place at Trinity College Cambridge. Having exams spread nicely over 2 years made them much less stressful and I got a chance to meet girls from all around the world which was a very nice experience. I leave Leweston well prepared for my future studies.
It seems like yesterday that I was brand new to the school. With the warm atmosphere amongst teachers and Sixth Form, I quickly felt at home. All the experiences at Leweston have enabled me to widen my horizons and learn to be independent. It has been a fun, meaningful and brilliant two years. For me coming to Leweston was definitely an opportunity of a lifetime and a remarkable experience.
I can’t believe that our time at Leweston is actually over. It makes me both sad and happy to leave and take the next step. I have been at Leweston for seven years, so it really feels like I grew up with all the girls in my year group. Leweston has taught me a lot of lessons that I will value for life.
Studying at Leweston was such a wonderful experience. All students and teachers were welcoming and supportive and I made lots of friends. Leweston gave me a chance to broaden my horizons and I have seen and learnt many things that are so different from my home country. It is a place full of warmth and team spirit and a school that has given me the opportunity to open my mind, appreciate different cultures and become a more independent person.
Leweston was a great period of my life with lots of fun and many meaningful memories. I met so many kind and friendly people. All of the students and teachers at Leweston are so willing to help me when I faced problems. Studying in an international environment, I had the opportunity to interact with people from different countries, which allowed me to learn about different cultures and broaden my horizons. How lucky I am!
