As well as being focused on the demands of examination specifications, the academic life of the school is designed to stimulate a love of learning and to engage with the natural curiosity of our pupils.

At Leweston we provide academic enrichment through a variety of activities including talks by visitors such as the politician Ann Widdecombe and author Caroline Green visits and trips to a diverse range of destinations, local events such as the Sherborne Literary Sessions and Saturday morning lectures given by members of staff. A recent highlight was titled “The mathematics of art and nature”, which looked at the golden ratio and its applications to the natural world, art, architecture and music. Further enrichment comes through links with university departments, including the Chemistry Department at Bristol with whom our pupils have engaged in research into climate change.

Staff know the pupils extremely well and are generous in giving additional advice and support.
