Leweston celebrates excellent A Levels
Excellent A Level and Pre-U results for Year 13 . . .
Learning is not just for the classroom, some things are most definitely best experienced first-hand. In the Sixth Form at Leweston you will have the opportunity to experience different countries and cultures on overseas study tours, hear from leading subject experts and try things you have never previously experienced. Recent examples of this include our biannual trip to Washington and New York with Sherborne School for Politics, Fine Art and Geography students, our annual trip to Krakow and Auschwitz for Year 12 Philosophy ad Ethics, History and Politics students, the recent Choir and Netball team tour to South Africa, a Fine Art trip to Venice with pupils from Winchester College, regular trips to the West End for Drama students, the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition to Peru, our annual careers day ( recent speakers include the Hon. Dido Harding, OA and recently appointed Peer of the Realm) and our biannual standing tall workshop confidence building workshop for all Sixth Formers.
There are also an abundance of extracurricular opportunities available to you in the Sixth Form. Leweston has a strong reputation for music and drama and Sixth Formers take a lead in the school productions and the Senior School choir: Schola Cantorum. Many of our girls also have a passion for sports and they compete at a local, regional and even a national level! Whatever your passion you will be supported in developing and excelling in it at Leweston.
In the Lower Sixth we offer pupils a broad range of activities which are designed to develop additional skills required for the modern world and which complement their academic studies.
The range of activities on offer includes:

The opportunity to give back to the community is a vital component of Leweston’s co-curricular programme and it is also good for your CV and personal statement. Through our Community Service links, you will be encouraged to create a meaningful link between your school life and the wider community. You will develop useful skills and have experiences that will help you at university and in later life. Some examples of this include…
The concept of ‘making a difference’ is very much part of the 6th form ethos and the Community Prefect along with all of the 6th form raise significant amounts of money for charities close to their hearts each year. In recent years Leweston has raised over £7,000 annually for charities including Macmillan, Educaid, Children in Need, Help for Heroes, Weldmar Hospicecare Trust and Cafod.
The range of extra-curricular activities available to pupils is outstanding, and greatly enhances the curriculum provision.
