As a school with a strong sense of community Leweston can easily become like a second home and family for international pupils. At Leweston we welcome pupils from overseas and provide for the educational and cultural needs of girls from all over the world. For the benefit of all pupils, the school has a policy to maintain a good balance of British and international pupils in classes and boarding houses.

Overseas pupils at Leweston are well motivated and keen to learn. They come from professional families worldwide and go on to study at top universities in the UK and abroad after obtaining excellent GCSE and A-level results at Leweston. The Leweston community embraces the rich cultural diversity of its students and regularly celebrates this with special 'International Days' and other activities.

As an international pupil, you may feel your English needs some support in order for you to achieve the best grades you can and EAL (English as an additional language) lessons will be available to you during the course of your studies.

If you need to acquire a qualification in English language for higher education you can be prepared for specific Language exams including First Certificate, IELTS and iGCSE in English as a Second Language.

Testimonials from some of our recent overseas pupils can be found below.

For an international pupil who joins the Sixth Form, Leweston achieves an average ‘Value Added’ score of one grade at A Level. Value added is a measure of the progress pupils make between different stages of education. If girls perform beyond expectations this will be reflected in a high ‘Value Added’ score. This high score demonstrated Leweston’s ability to add value to each girl’s education and encourage them to perform beyond original expectations.

At Leweston every student is treated individually and I was provided with the amazing opportunity to study in small groups with a high level of specialist teaching.  I received a bespoke education that I would not have received in any other school and as a result achieved my dream of being awarded a place at Trinity College Cambridge.  Having exams spread nicely over 2 years made them much less stressful and I got a chance to meet girls from all around the world which was a very nice experience.  I leave Leweston well prepared for my future studies.

It seems like yesterday that I was brand new to the school.  With the warm atmosphere amongst teachers and Sixth Form, I quickly felt at home.  All the experiences at Leweston have enabled me to widen my horizons and learn to be independent.  It has been a fun, meaningful and brilliant two years. For me coming to Leweston was definitely an opportunity of a lifetime and a remarkable experience.

I can’t believe that our time at Leweston is actually over.  It makes me both sad and happy to leave and take the next step.  I have been at Leweston for seven years, so it really feels like I grew up with all the girls in my year group.  Leweston has taught me a lot of lessons that I will value for life.

Leweston was a great period of my life with lots of fun and many meaningful memories. I met so many kind and friendly people.  All of the students and teachers at Leweston are so willing to help me when I faced problems.  Studying in an international environment, I had the opportunity to interact with people from different countries, which allowed me to learn about different cultures and broaden my horizons. How lucky I am!

Studying at Leweston was such a wonderful experience.  All students and teachers were welcoming and supportive and I made lots of friends.  Leweston gave me a chance to broaden my horizons and I have seen or learnt many things that are so different from my home country.  It is a place full of warmth and team spirit and a school that has given me the opportunity to open my mind, appreciate different cultures and become a more independent person.
